Why Wayne in White Would Be A Win Win Win

Although Wayne Rooney's Shrek-like head is reportedly being turned by the billions being offered by Manchester City, the United man should instead take heed of José Mourinho's advise to give him a call. If the striker does do a runner from Old Trafford, even as soon as this winter, then it should be to somewhere significantly more enticing than Eastlands. And that's Real Madrid...

The Win For Wayne Rooney
If the average, cheese-brained, money-obsessed English footballer paid as much attention to becoming a better player as to the size of their bank balance, Ipod headphones and the press attaché's tits then a heck of a lot more would have headed to the Spanish league in recent years than the brave few that have manfully taken the plunge in la Primera.

Technically, Rooney already has everything needed to become a success in Spain. There's little chance of any potential team-mates taking the piss at the Englishman's first touch at the first training session. Nevertheless, the chance to work with with one of the ultimate player-improvers, José Mourinho, as well as face new opponents would surely shift the striker up a gear or two in his personal progress, a benefit to his currently crap country, too.

Unbeaten in la Primera and with nine points from nine in the Champions League without conceding a goal are surely the surest of signs that the comedy days of the Santiago Bernabeu side are well and truly over and that Mourinho's men are on the brink of returning to the European high table. Isn't that experience worth the potential loss in earnings by choosing Madrid over Manchester City?

Cultural-adaptions concerns are minimal as language isn't necessarily an issue at Real Madrid with a number of the squad speaking English, including Xabi Alonso who is more than adept at interpreting Rooney's particular linguistic stylings after his five Scouse-ensconced seasons at Liverpool.

The Win For Manchester United
Should want-away Wayne agree with part one of this grand winter-window scheme then Manchester United would be offloading a player to a rival who they would only have to deal with in Europe, and only from the start of next season due to Rooney's Champions League participation in the current campaign.

In return, Sir Alex Ferguson would be able to plug a couple of holes in his own squad with some cash from the deal and by demanding the coveted Karim Benzema who has fallen firmly into the misfit category at Real Madrid with the French striker exiled to the Bernabeu bench for the foreseeable future.

Whilst the Manchester United would have to work awfully hard to get Benzema to...well...work awfully hard, the French international is still a lethal striker when he choses to show it.

Along with Benzema, Sir Alex should be able to bring over Lassana Diarra, a player who is more than familiar with the Premier League and desperate to put on the shirt at a club where he can start on regular basis and show off his dynamic, rampaging midfield ways.

The Win For Real Madrid
Wayne Rooney certainly ticks the all-important commercial boxes for Madrid - an English import (a tradition with Florentino Pérez), a global brand and another trophy player that a proud club president can parade before the press.

On a tactical point of view, the case for Rooney's arrival in winter is even more compelling for the Spanish capital club as the English forward would cover a serious risk that José Mourinho is currently running with his forward line.

With Cristiano Ronaldo being utilised as a wide-man, Madrid are overly-dependent on the goals of Gonzalo Higuaín, the club's top league marksman over the past two seasons. Aside from the Argentinean and Benzema - who appears to be less than committed to the club's cause - there are no other serious strikers in the first-team squad.

With the eternally ambitious manager claiming that he is gunning for every title, every season, a revitalised Wayne Rooney in a exciting new environment could be a fantastic bit of business for Real Madrid, as well as everyone else.
